House of Hope helps to break barriers for women who want to provide for their family, such as education, debt, livable wages, domestic abuse, criminal history & childcare. Located in Waterloo, Iowa, House of Hope is stationed just a short drive from Root Headquarters in Waverly, Iowa and is very near to our hearts.
Meet Karen: "I’m Karen, mother of 3 sweet blessings and wife to a wonderful man. On October 10th at only 33 years old, I was diagnosed with aggressive breast cancer, and my world was turned upside down. My days went from being filled with work and family events to being filled with doctor’s appointments, tests, and endless research. Since my diagnosis, I’ve been making a lot of changes to my lifestyle, but one thing that has always brought me a peace of mind is my makeup. I’ve been using Root’s makeup and skin care for 3 years now, and I’m so grateful to have access to affordable organic products that work. Next year I will be undergoing a double mastectomy along with aggressive treatment to prevent cancer from coming back in the years to come. I will be fighting for my life, but I know that I will raise my children, and I will grow old with my husband. I also know that I’m not alone in this fight. I have an amazing support system and that to me, is priceless."
Hurricane Harvey was an unprecedented natural disaster in the state of Texas, and we created the Limited Edition Houston Pretty Balm to aid in the unprecedented recovery effort that followed. 100% of the sales of this Limited Edition Pretty Balm from August 31, 2017 - November 20, 2017 went to the Rebuild Texas Fund within the OneStar Foundation to help support the economic recovery of Texas communities devastated by Hurricane Harvey. Our donation of $3,039.99 helped revitalize schools and child care centers, rebuild community assets and support small businesses to re-open, as well as help displaced families return home.
